Fall 2020 – Spring 2021
Ages 10-15 — (Grades 5-8)
@StageCoach Theatre Company in Ashburn, VA
Overall, our three-day-a-week MircoSchool opportunity is a chance for families to get what they need academically while pursuing good character and sound communication skills in their kids:
Civics & Community
Tuesdays
11am to 3pm
On Tuesdays we will be learning the Explorers of the World, starting with the Silk Road, through the New World, and Pioneers of the West, all with IndED Director/Founder Butch Porter. We’ll also have field trips and special guests to make sure that our kids get a good feel for the institutions and communities in which they live.
Arts & Technology
Wednesdays
11am to 3pm
Our students will build their confidence with a firm foundation in acting, public speaking/voice, and stage presence, all under the tutelage of local theatre and acting coach, R Aaron Thompson.. We’ll also learn some backstage skills, graphic design, lighting and music, with our friends at CoderSchool in Ashburn, VA.
Language Arts & Science
Thursdays
11am to 3pm
In “Writing and Language Arts”, our Mentor Helena Syska will be diving into Drama and Poetry, as well as the History of Science and Scientific Theory in our “Thinking Like a Scientist” class. Through their academic studies, the students will learn critical, inter-disciplinary analytical and critical thinking skills.
In addition to the classes, we offer: math support, journal prompts and literature assignments (on-site and off-site) for a complete, full-curricular program outside of the school system.

Note: What are we doing in terms of Covd-19? We will be limiting the class size to 8 students, socially distancing, and wearing masks when that is not possible (lab experiments, cooking classes, etc). Students who are symptomatic or otherwise a risk can stay home and Zoom into the classes
