“Thinking Like a Scientist” for Homeschoolers is an exploration of scientific thinking and reasoning, touching on all the categories of science: Life, Astronomy, and Physics. Though we will enjoy sharing knowledge in all of these areas, the purpose of the program is to convey a way of asking the tough questions and exploring the best ways to determine the answers to questions of science and technology.
Thinking Like a Scientist focuses on Earth and Space Science, with special attention paid to the historical scientists who sought to explain our world, starting with the Babylonians in ancient times, through to medieval and early modern times where they began to explore through inquiry and experimentation. This ten week course focuses on the Modern Age.
Age Range: 8-12 (approx. 3rd to 6th grade)
Schedule: Every Thursday beginning March 16, through May 25 (no class on April 13 for Spring Break), from 1pm to 2:30pm.
Cost: The cost of the whole 10 week course is only $220, including materials fees.
(Students also have the opportunity to stay for the “Open Lab” where they will get a chance to explore their project a little further. From 2:30 till 4pm, for an extra $15 per class.)
